Invitation To Silence
An inter-active exhibition about communication guided by deaf guides. This exhibition that brings forth the non- oral communication skills that exist in every one of us, and which are best expressed in the absence of voice and sound. In this non-standard experience one does not speak nor hear, and yet discovers a new alternative world of communication, through hands movements and body language. This is a unique ethical-educational project, directed by deaf guides for whom "sign language" is the main, and often only, communication channel available. The exhibit wishes to give visitors an opportunity to go through a unique, personal experience to introduce them to an alternative way of expression and discourse. In the process a non prejudiced acquaintance between the deaf and hearing people is developed. This exhibition was produced by Mrs. Orna Cohen and Mr. Andreas Heinecke, the creator of "Dialogue in the Dark", achieving great success in Cité des Sciences in Paris. It is currently presented in Germany and Israel, and upcoming tours in Finland and Switzerland.
